The Ministry of Agriculture and Water, through the General Directorate of Irrigation and Rural Development, has promoted the rehabilitation of rural houses in La Mata, in the town of Moratalla, under Programs Development Regional Information LEADER .
The work, which involves an investment of 37,457 euros, have included the improvement and adaptation of two homes and the area common to both destined to leisure.
It has also installed solar thermal and heating system with biomass.
The Director General of Irrigation and Rural Development, Julio Bernal, noted that this is another example of the LEADER approach, driven by his department and "aimed at diversifying the economy and improving the quality of life in rural areas, creating jobs."
He further stressed that "the installation of alternative energy in these accommodations helps to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, while promoting clean the mountains of that environment, using pruning as part of the fuel for the boiler, which also contributes to the prevention of forest fires. "
Funding for this project is part of the online community aid the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
This fund covers 75 percent of the total amount of each of the projects approved by the Ministry for the development of rural areas.
The remaining 25 percent is financed equally by this Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.
