This action will ensure the supply of drinking water to the population, ensuring its supply by gravity
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (MAGRAMA), through the Commonwealth of Taibilla Channel, has tendered the supply improvement works to Moratalla (Murcia), amounting to 1.9 million euros.
This project, co-funded by 80% with FEDER funds, improve the supply of drinking water to the town, to ensure its supply by gravity without any pumping station.
The works to be undertaken will include the construction of a new galvanized steel pipe in two tranches, the first of 5030 meters in length and 300 mm in diameter, and the second of 728 meters long and 200 millimeters in diameter, connected by gravity the jump with three deposits.
The first, located on the road from the campsite of Moratalla, and the other two ("The Oak" and "Moratalla") in the vicinity of urban road west of Moratalla, bordering the Cerro San Javier.
The new leadership includes shutoff valves required (to isolate sections of pipe 1000 meters), reinforced concrete manholes, drains for emptying operations at low points for aeration and the suckers on the high points that will ensure proper exploitation.
The new pipeline will cross the river Alharabe, attached to the current channel portasifón Taibilla air, minimizing environmental conditions.
The improvement works will be completed with the construction of a pipeline parallel to the existing canal to connect the jump Moratalla, located on the mountain of the same name, just 2.5 km from Camping Moratalla.
The Commonwealth of Taibilla Channel provides drinking water to 79 municipalities of the regions of Albacete (2) Alicante (34) and Murcia (43) supplied with a total population of 2,400,000 inhabitants and in summer over 3,000,000 people.
