Lowering of 16.5 points since 2008
In 2008 the rate of early school leaving in Murcia was 40.6 percent, while according to the latest official data of the Ministry, in 2014 stood at 24.1, representing a reduction of 16.5 points, one of the outcomes of major improvement in Spain.
Also the distance to the national average is still shortening, and last year was 2.2, compared to 2.7 points in 2013. The early school leaving in Spain stood at 21.9 and since 2008 is down 9.8 points, with the improvement experienced in the Region of Murcia 6.8 points higher in the period 2008-2014.
"We continue to work to improve our results with the collaboration of the entire educational community and town councils, but there is still much work to do and continue to advance the implementation of the II Regional Plan to Prevent Truancy and Dropout and better education with the '+ Educational Quality + School Success'' strategy, said the Minister Pedro Antonio Sánchez.
The II Regional Plan for Prevention, Monitoring and Control of absenteeism and early school leaving launched by the Ministry of Education provides almost fifty actions for integrated action that promotes school success, with the involvement of the various administrations and entire teaching community.
Among the actions of this Plan implemented during the past year are 21 informative prevention campaigns, raising awareness against truancy;
workshops in 69 schools;
82 workshops educational intervention aimed at secondary students;
and over 100 schools parents in the various municipalities and schools in the Region of Murcia.
